Fudoshin Bujutsu is the home of the treble contest. It is a concept that, to the best of our knowledge, is unique to our system. Fudoshin Bujutsu is not a sport based martial art. However, from time to time techniques and martial artists need to be tested under combat conditions. The problem is that true combat can only have one outcome. One survivor. Two losers. So rules are needed and a contesting environment ensures that people and their techniques can be tested while a level of safety is maintained.
The treble contest is constructed to test the all round skills of students. As the name suggests there are three events.
1. Karate Sparring ( Non-Contact though only powerful strikes will be awarded points )
2. Judo Sparring ( Only full and half throws are awarded points, no ground work )
3. Submission Grappling. ( Winner must submit/tap out their opponent, no standing )
The competitors must complete a 1 minute round of each of the three events, one after the other. The total score from all three events deciding the winner.
Treble contesting is very demanding on skill, fitness and fighting spirit.
It is one of the most popular parts of our training.
